Team 4 Golf - Special Events

SOBS Challenge Format

If the Team4Golf.com scoring requirement for an individual hole is not attained, your team will be provided with up to 6 opportunities to potentially continue towards victory and prize money via our exclusive Save Our Bacon Shot (SOBS) Challenge. Each SOBS Challenge takes place on the same hole in which the original scoring requirement is not attained.
Prior to beginning a SOBS Challenge, the Game Host will officially place Ball #1 (only) in the pre-determined drop area for that particular hole. Drop area locations are posted on the Participating course page under scoring requirements and can be located on the green, in a sand trap, the fairway or rough, no farther than 75 yards from the hole. The Game Host will then announce the maximum number of shots allowed for that specific Challenge. Finally, the Game Host will ask your Team Captain to supply a fresh shot rotation for that particular SOBS Challenge (Teams can employ different shot rotations for each SOBS Challenge). If your team finishes the Challenge with a successful score (equal or lower than required score), that hole is re-classified as successful and your team is still in the hunt for event prize money. If your team shot total exceeds the maximum number of allowed shots, the hole is considered unsuccessful and the chance at event prize money is officially lost for that day.
If the scoring requirement for a hole is not attained after your team has successfully utilized all 6 of its SOBS Challenges, the chance at event money is officially lost. However, don't give up if your team's chance at event money is lost. A low Team Score could entitle your team to an end-of-the-season prize money bonus.
After each SOBS Challenge is completed, your team will resume play on the next hole employing your original shot rotations for Ball #1 and Ball #2.
Don’t give up if your team fails to meet the scoring requirements on a specific hole. A low overall score, and a high number of successful holes would result in an excellent (modified) "Team Score"  that may entitle your team to an end-of-the-season prize money bonus.

SOBS Challenge Example

Back to hole #2 (par 3). This hole was declared unsuccessful because the official score of 4 is higher then the Team4Golf.com required score of 3. The Game Host has just placed Ball #1 on the right side of the fairway approximately 30 yards from the front of the green (the documented drop area for this particular hole).

The Game Host then announces that in order for this hole to be re-classified a success, the team must complete this challenge in 3 or less shots. At this point he asks "Straight Shot" Schmidt (the Team Captain) to supply a 3 person shot rotation for this challenge (shown below).

"Straight Shot" Schmidt
"Fine Touch" Finnegan
"Big Drive" Boyer

"Straight Shot" comes up big and places the first shot about 20ft from the hole. "Fine Touch" Finnegan wipes the sweat from his forehead, then nervously strikes the putt about 14" past the cup. The teams chance at winning the event money comes down to "Big Drive" Boyer. After reviewing the putting line with his teammates, the putt is dead center in and everyone quickly congratulates "Big Drive". The hole is now considered a success and the team is still eligible to win the posted event prize money. The team now has 5 SOBS Challenges remaining.

If "Big Drive" Boyer had missed that short putt, any chance the team had at winning event prize money would have been lost. However, this is where teams need to buckle down and re-focus. With our unique Team Scoring system and some excellent shot making, they still have an opportunity for an end-of-the-season prize money bonus. Plus they still have the Pin Plus 3 and Driving Accuracy 20 Challenges to play.
